What is a
Parent Council?
The Parent Council is an organization
that operates as a service to the school family:
students, parents, faculty, alumni and friends
of
The Academy. All AiA Academy parents are members
of The Parent Council. It is The Council’s
responsibility to facilitate communication between
the school and parents, and to provide volunteers
to advance the efforts of the administration and
the image of the school. The Parent Council offers
parents a great opportunity:
• To know what’s
going on at your child’s school and to get
more involved in his or her school life.
• To share your skills and
experience in volunteer activities which benefit
our children.
• To meet, socialize
with, and build lasting friendships with other
AiA Academy parents.
Family Volunteer Hours
We feel that parental involvement is vital to
an effective education. We encourage our parents
and families to volunteer as much as possible.
Atlantic Inclusive Academy requires each AiA family
to complete 20 Volunteer Hours to the Academy
each year, or donate $5.00 per hour, if that is
more convenient. We recommend that you schedule
2 hours a month for the 10 months of school. We
are flexible about the schedule. We do ask that
you check with the Administrator to schedule a
convenient time. We need volunteers who are willing
to do the following:
Tutoring, Mentoring
Share a Talent
Provide Special Treats
Chaperone Field Trips
Organize a Community Service Project
Help with Fundraisers
Help with a School Clean-Up Work Day
Repair items, Paint, Etc.
Student Community Service
Atlantic Inclusive Academy
students are required to complete 20 Community
Service Hours each school year. We strive to do
at least one community service project each semester.
Community service hours are also a requirement
for receiving many college scholarships.
